Vacancies: Campaign Director & Press Officer

 

The European Movement has two new vacancies listed below for a Campaign Director and Press Officer. Both positions are full time.

Campaign Director

Closing Date: 19 February 2017
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000

Job Details

The European Movement UK is the campaigning voice of people of all parties, and of none, who believe that Britain’s interests are best served by remaining a member of the EU.

We have an exciting opportunity for a campaigns professional who wants to work with us to present our case to the British people. The role will involve responsibility for managing and coordinating local and national campaigns to develop branches, membership and political support for the European Movement.

Key tasks will include:
Creating new local groups and supporting existing groups
Helping to create new student groups and supporting existing groups
Organising events and training sessions
Establishing and Directing the work of the European Movement Field Team
Mobilising existing volunteers and activists
Developing and implementing fundraising strategies
Developing and managing national campaign grids
Developing content for leaflets and other literature

Essential experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Event management including planning, logistics and delivery
Writing and preparing communications material
Strong understanding of social media
Strong track record of delivering campaigns within a voluntary organisation

Desirable experience
Working in a political or campaigning environment
Engagement of students or young people in projects or campaigns
Development and delivery of training

Interview/Start Dates

We will be conducting interviews on a rolling basis throughout the course of the advertisment and may appoint before the closing date.

Press Officer

: £30,000 – £35,000 negotiable dependent on experience

We have an exciting opportunity for a media professional who wants to work with us to present our case to the British people. The role will involve responsibility for managing our media relationships and our public messaging.

The duties of Press Officer will include:
Contributing ideas towards European Movement UK’s media strategies.
Setting up press conferences and managing visits and events for pro-European personalities.
Setting up interviews and photo opportunities for the national media.
Writing press releases and other copy including articles and briefs as required.
Working with our team of branch press officers.
Working with the Chair and Campaigns Officer to develop the best media opportunities for our campaigns.
The post holder will be expected to undertake any other reasonable tasks as required by the Chair of European Movement.

Essential experience
• A senior role within a busy press office, or at a newspaper or broadcaster
• Briefing spokespeople prior to media appearances
• Writing and preparing high-quality material for national media use
• Briefing national broadcast and print journalists
• Working with Parliamentary Lobby correspondents
• Managing press events
• Using social media to engage with journalists

Desirable
• Working in a campaign environment
• Writing articles and op-eds for spokespeople
• Producing written material within an agreed messaging framework
